Even NorthEast Residents are Moving Further East in DC

With the shortage of inventory and the continued demand for single-family homes, big yards, and the desire to remain close to walkable Washington DC, buyers are inching their search just a little further east to Woodridge, Michigan Park, and Langdon neighborhoods. There they are finding more square footage on lots that give them even more options to entertain, build, garden or simply not live on top of their neighbors.

With the increase in Buyers flocking to these areas, we are sure to see appreciation rise in the short term. Year over year the median price of a 3 bedroom home increased by $76k. This is a clear indication that demand is increasing prices dramatically.

The recent discovery of these homes in Ward 5 is resulting in even more diverse communities and renovated homes for less than $1M although that may change soon considering most homes are over 1800 SF. That may not seem like much but with the rising prices and demand for more square footage, larger homes are harder to come by.

If you are interested in discovering NE DC neighborhoods let’s talk about your plans. It’s not too late while homes are still relatively affordable and interest rates are still low. Next year might be a different story.
