About the Artists

Dr. Yemonja Smalls

Dr. Yemonja Smalls is an emerging artist with very little formal artistic training. She has served in the field of developmental disabilities for over 20 years. As a recent Chicago, IL to Baltimore, MD transplant, she currently functions as the State Director of Coordination of Community Services in Maryland’s Department of Health.

Yemonja’s creations in various mediums have been exhibited in the Museum of Science and Industry, Harold Washington Library, South Side Community Art Center, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Harlem Fine Arts Show, Gallery Guichard, Howard University, Tall Grass Studios, the Sojourner Family Peace Center among others, and in various private collections across the nation. Dr. Monique Gamble

Dr. Monique Alicia Gamble is a freelance photographer and an Adjunct Political Science Professor at the University of District of Columbia. She is a graduate of Tuskegee University and received her PhD at Howard University.

Her interest in photography started early. She honed her photography skills by following a professional photographer to learn more about shooting techniques to capture the perfect lighting, image and subject. Her work stems from her interest in the inner city challenged with gentrification, political unrest and simple city life. Monique is also a noted wedding and events photographer in Metro DC. Saleem Wayne Waters

Saleem Wayne Waters is a Multi-Instrumentalists Musician who plays over 20 Musical instruments. He's a composer and arranger. His musical travels have taken him to Brazil, England, Paris, The Virgin Islands, and The Bahamas. He's performed at the Kennedy Center,The Lincoln Jazz Center, The United Nations, The San Diego Symphony, The Strathmore,Blues Alley, Night Clubs, Capitol Hill, The Oscar and Emmy Awards Celebrations, University's, and private events. He blends a mixture of Jazz, Caribbean, World Beat, Spiritual, Blues, Classical and Neo Soul.
